Bt/Kathiraveli Vigneswara Maha Vidyalayam is located in Eastern Province in the North of Vakara division. It is 76 Km from Batticaloa town. It is surrounded by north of Veruhal, South of Vaharai, East of Sea and the West of natural forest. At the very beginning it was 1C School and recently it has been upgraded into 1AB School. Kathiraveli is famous for “Naathukoothu” and Vasanthan Koothu” and also dairy products, paddy, inland and sea fish and dried fish can be seen. Most of the people are doing paddy and Chena cultivation and fishing. Main ritual function is “Vathanamar Sadanku”. During this function, cows will be caught from the forest. Then the function will be held one day. The people who have cattle conduct this ritual function. Tile factory was there. But during the war period it was destroyed.
